Griffin Theatre
www.griffintheatre.com.au
School’s in
Education is an essential andd deeply valued part of Griffin’s work. In 2010, Griffin invites both teachers and students of all ages to enjoy the intimate and unique experience of the SBW Stables Theatre.

Join our gang
If you’re a teacher, you’re invited to join our education group. With special offers to members, as well as up to date and behind-the-scene news to foster ongoing connections with high schools, there are many opportunities to interact with Griffin. We value your experience and feedback – and always welcome the chance to talk with you in the foyer, before or after a show.

Bring the class
In 2010, Griffin continues to offer great value tickets for high quality drama, presenting dedicated school matinee performances followed by post-show forums with the cast – from only $16 a ticket (with free tickets available for teachers). Griffin also produces free teachers’ notes for every Griffin production – with information on the play’s development, interviews with the creative team, syllabus links, resource lists and suggested in-class activities to build a deeper engagement with the work.

Come for free
Griffin offers complimentary preview tickets to its education group members so that teachers have the opportunity to experience new Australian drama and see each production before bringing their students.

Play all year
Running successfully since 2004, Griffin Ambassadors is an annual access program for year 11 and 12 students. Our Ambassadors come from across Sydney and, united by a common love of theatre, attend all Griffin and Griffin Independent shows for free throughout the year. Engaging with casts and creative teams in post-show forums, our Ambassadors explore aspects of theatre craft in special workshops, perform on the Stables stage, and play a critical part in the life and work of the company. Offering a unique, in-depth experience, the program makes a significant contribution to the encouragement and education of the next generation of theatre-goers and makers.

School’s out
Griffin also offers an excellent program of acting and writing classes for the more mature pupil. In 2010, Griffin’s Associate Director, Lee Lewis, returns to lead our popular series of acting master classes. Running four times a year, these eight-week courses provide participants with a sustained opportunity to develop their craft and engage with like-minded artistic folk in an intimately -sized group. Classes are designed for those who have completed formal acting training, or who have three or more years of practical experience. For those of a more literary bent, Griffin also offers a series of ten-week playwriting classes, both generaland advanced – an important component of our commitment to the development of new Australian writing. Courses will be led by experienced playwrights, including Hilary Bell (Wolf Lullaby).
