Sydney Olympic Park: Applications in the Environment Program

The ‘Applications in the Environment’ excursion program provides opportunities for students to engage in real life situations that require mathematical skills.

Students will explore and solve questions and problems related to scientific and management issues within the park.

Skills used in this excursion will include:
determining area of polygons and natural forms,
calculating volume of cylinders,
determining ratios of growth and size,
collecting primary and secondary data and analysing results, averages of results,
reading and interpreting charts and
calculating heights, dates and time.
